Cokesbury Apartments, originally built as Methodist Publishing House in 1921, is part of the Grace Street Commercial Historic District. The street-level retail space is still used as a book store. A deep bracketed cornice is one of the building’s distinguishing features. Architectural historians and critics note that this building is a near-duplicate of the Quirk Hotel (former Mosby Store), erected five years earlier at 201 West Broad Street and designed by Starrett & van Vleck.
