11 West 81 Street was erected in 1908. It was designed by Schickel & Ditmars in Beaux-Arts style, and is part of the Upper West Side/Central Park West Historic District. The building is directly across the street from Rose Center for Earth and Space – formerly known as the Hayden Planetarium.
